Keep Your Messaging Simple

I have a riddle for you: What has four letters, sometimes nine letters, but never has five letters? Do you know? It’s actually quite simple…

sometimes has nine letters;
and never has five letters.

See, the answer was right there; almost obvious once you know the secret —and that’s how your marketing messaging should be. Don’t complicate things for your customers. Give them the answers they seek by spelling it out for them, right up front.

How can you do this?

See the situation from your customers’ points of view. What is it that they need? Why do they need it?

Once those questions are answered, compose your message in a language your customers understand. Be precise. Target your audience’s individual challenges, then craft your message to demonstrate how your product can alleviate those pain points. Show them that the answer to their riddle is right in front of them.

If you don’t, what you’ll find is that your customers will sometimes figure out what you’re offering. But you will never reach them all if you don’t provide them with the answers.
