Account Manager

InGear, a content marketing and public relations agency that represents leading technology providers, is seeking an account management professional to join our team. We’re looking for candidates with at least four years of experience in PR or marketing communications, preferably in or related to enterprise IT, professional A/V, home or consumer technology markets.

Key skills include the ability to quickly grasp the significance and application of high technology products; strategic and big picture thinking, idea generation, multitasking, and setting priorities; working proactively with minimal supervision; assist in RFP responses; and the ability to be a team player in an agency where your colleagues and clients may be located in other time zones and countries.

We will give preference to someone with established media and industry relationships in our target markets. Superior writing and verbal communications skills are also required. Occasional travel to client sites and trade shows. This is a home office opportunity.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Provides overall direction and day-to-day delivery of quality services to several accounts
  • Consults with clients on strategy, messaging and overall content development
  • Develops PR and communications plans for clients
  • Produces monthly PR and measurement reports for clients
  • Leads client meetings, defines and ensures key client deliverables are met
  • Maintains summary of ongoing projects and reviews/updates in weekly or biweekly conference with client
  • Ensures that all content meets agency standards for accuracy and readability
  • Identifies target media and influencers and manages media relations
  • Develops press releases, pitches, fact sheets, creative content and other client communications
  • Assigns writing tasks to agency writers and manages their completion and written approval by client and other involved parties
  • Obtains written client approval of all agency work products that will be distributed to the press or other third parties
  • Monitors editorial calendars for publicity opportunities, interfaces with editors to obtain story placements, and maintains up-to-date media contact information in company database
  • Researches calls for papers at industry conferences and drives the paper proposal and final paper submission process to meet conference deadlines
  • Coordinates and manages events on-site
  • Manages and mentors junior staff
  • Where applicable, manages clients’ social media strategy
  • Understands SEO basics is a plus but not required

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 4+ years of public relations, marketing communications or other relevant experience
  • Direct experience in key markets
  • Excellent verbal communications skills
  • English native speaker or nearly native knowledge of English (Must be able to pass a proofing test)
  • Knowledge of one or more languages besides English a plus, especially Spanish, German, French, and/or Italian
  • Strong written and editing skills and experience with press releases, case studies, white papers, marketing collateral, magazine articles, or related work
  • Ability to coordinate multiple projects in order to meet deadlines
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Must be able to work effectively within a home-office environment that includes a dedicated office space and no distractions (A laptop, high-bandwidth Internet connection, and office line will be provided by InGear)
  • Must be legally qualified to work in the United States
